In this tutorial we’re going to show you how to properly setup your domain if you have your domain with Moniker. Please follow ALL these steps in order.
Step 1: Find your Domain
After you login into Your account, find in the left hand side menu ‘Domains’. Click on ‘Domains’ and select ‘My Domains’.
Step 2: Select Your Domain To Edit
If you have multiple domains you’ll see a list, otherwise there should only be 1 domain to choose from. Select the domain you want to edit.
Step 3: Create Subdomain
After you have selected your domain, you’ll be presented with the information about that domain. The field at the bottom automatically has your domain, all you have to do is add www and click Create Subdomain.
Step 4: Adding The CNAME
A pop-up will appear when you click ‘Create Subdomain’. Check the box for CNAME, then add donedeal2.wpengine.com in the CNAME field.
Step 5: Adding The Redirect
After setting up the CNAME record and saving changes, the pop-up will close. Find where it says ‘Subdomain Overview’ and click ‘Edit’ next to your newly created subdomain.
A new pop-up will show when you click ‘Edit’. Under ‘Web Settings’ select ‘Redirect’. Then add you domain name.
NOTE: Be sure to add www in front of your Domain Name.
Once you’ve added the redirect click ‘Save’.
Step 6: Attach Your Domain To Your Site
Almost done. Log into your Done Deal Website account and scroll down till you see on the side menu ‘Tools’. Hover over tools and click on ‘Domain Mapping’.
Once you’re redirected add Your domain to the ‘Map new domain name’ Field.
What you’ll also want to do is click the Star icon under ‘Actions’ for the domain you just added. This will make it the primary domain. Otherwise, it will use your Done Deal Website URL as the primary and will affect your sitemap. What does this mean? Well if you are concerned about SEO, it’ll make a difference because all of the URLs in your sitemap will show as your Done Deal Website domain name if you don’t change your primary domain.
IMPORTANT: Include the ‘www’. You may not have any domain in the list above unlike the picture above. Whether you only have 1 or multiple, make sure to select ‘Directed to mapped (primary) domain’ for Your new domain.
Step 7: Request SSL Certificate
The last thing you’ll want to do is set up an SSL certificate. What is an SSL certificate? An SSL certificate makes your website more secure. It also puts the little “secure” lock icon in your web browser when you visit your site. Having an SSL certificate can help people to trust your website.
This last step however, you cannot do yourself. You’ll need to submit a request for an SSL Certificate to Apartment Investor Pro support. Once you have submitted the request, you can sit back and relax as our team sets up your SSL Certificate.
Once Completed you will receive a confirmation email letting you know the process has been completed.
