In this tutorial we’re going to show you how to properly setup your domain if you have your domain with Google’s G suite. Please follow ALL these steps in order.

Step 1: Sign in to your domain host

Open a browser tab or window and sign in to your host’s website.

G suite login

Step 2: Get your unique CNAME record

You get a unique CNAME record for your domain when you set up G Suite or when you reset your G Suite admin password.

NOTE: Keep the page with this record open. You’ll use it later.

Step 3: Add the CNAME record to your domain’s DNS records

To add the CNAME record to your domain host, follow the steps below. See your domain host’s documentation for more specific instructions.

  1. Go to your domain’s DNS records.
  2. Add a record to your DNS settings, selecting CNAME as the record type.
  3. Return to the first window or tab and copy the contents of the Label/Host field.
  4. Paste the copied contents into the Label or Host field with your DNS records.
  5. Return to the first window or tab and copy the contents of the Destination/Target field.
  6. Paste the copied contents into the Destination or Target field with your DNS records. Your record should look similar to one of the tables below:
  7. donedeal2.wpengine.com, copy and paste this link.

NOTE: After saving your record, the changes can take up to 72 hours to go into effect, but typically they happen much sooner.

Step 4: Redirect your domain

  1. From the Admin console Home page, go to Domains. To see Domains, you might have to click More controls at the bottom.
  2. Click Add/Remove domains.
  3. Under Primary domain, click Redirect your naked domain.
  4. Enter the prefix or subdomain of the web address. Typically, this is “www”.  Then click Continue.
  5. NOTE: Address mapping is supported only by HTTP and not HTTPS.
  6. Configure A records for your domain to map the prefix you entered above to the IP addresses of Google servers hosting your site. You configure A records using the administrative tools at your domain host, not the Google Admin console.
  7. When you’re done, click I’ve completed these steps.

NOTE: You might have to wait up to 48 hours for your A record changes to go into effect. After that, entering your domain address redirect to the web address you set up in your Admin console.

Step 5: Attach Your Domain To Your Site

Almost Done. Log into your Done Deal Website account and scroll down till you see on the side menu ‘Tools’ hover over that and click on ‘Domain Mapping’.

Once you’re redirected add Your domain to the ‘Map new domain name’ Field.

Adding your domain name

What you’ll also want to do is click the Star icon under ‘Actions’ for the domain you just added. This will make it the primary domain. Otherwise, it will use your Done Deal Website URL as the primary and will affect your sitemap. What does this mean? Well if you are concerned about SEO, it’ll make a difference because all of the URLs in your sitemap will show as your Done Deal Website domain name if you don’t change your primary domain.

IMPORTANT: Include the ‘www’. You may not have any domain in the list above unlike the picture above. Whether you only have 1 or multiple, make sure to select ‘Directed to mapped (primary) domain’ for Your new domain.

IMPORTANT: For further assistance you can checkout Google’s documentation. These links are where I got most of the information for this article from.

Step 6: Request SSL Certificate

The last thing you’ll want to do is set up an SSL certificate. What is an SSL certificate? An SSL certificate makes your website more secure. It also puts the little “secure” lock icon in your web browser when you visit your site. Having an SSL certificate can help people to trust your website.

This last step however, you cannot do yourself. You’ll need to submit a request for an SSL Certificate to Apartment Investor Pro support. Once you have submitted the request, you can sit back and relax as our team sets up your SSL Certificate.

Once Completed you will receive a confirmation email letting you know the process has been completed.
